I am an exclusively trained child/adolescent/family specialist with over 15 years of experience.  I use evidenced based treatments coupled with supportive therapy that bring positive results in the shortest period of time.  As a child/adolescent specialist, I am trained to identify underlying causes to your child's difficulty and I work very closely with parents, helping them help their child.  My practice has a team of other highly skilled child/adolescent specialists.

I also have an expertise in working with women of all ages, helping them balance the challenge of important relationships with their own needs and personal development.  Furthermore, I am a nationally certified specialist and community leader in working with pregnant and postpartum women.

How do you help your patients?

In addition to many years of specialized training, the way that I help my patients is also informed by my life experience as a mother who has raised 3 children and married for 25+ years. I use a positive, strength based approach: instead of only looking at what seems to be wrong, importantly I look at what needs to be right and then work with you to make that happen. Patients and families leave our work together feeling stronger and successful for the first time in a long time.

I received my undergraduate degree from Gannon University and graduate degrees from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I trained at Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Department of Child Psychiatry, Northern Illinois University, Linden Oaks Hospital @ Edward and North Central Behavioral Health Systems where I later became the Clinical Training Director  for a staff of 200+ mental health professionals.  I am also certified by Postpartum Support International and have received postgraduate training by the Postpartum Stress Center to treat women with perinatal mood disorders.

I supervised the clinical training of the postdoctoral fellows as Child/Adolescent specialist and predoctoral practicum students at Linden Oaks Hospital @ Edward, Naperville, Illinois and consult on program development.  I co-lead a support group at Edward Hospital for women experiencing postpartum anxiety/depression and assist in the development of a comprehensive postpartum screening and mental health service delivery system from pregnancy through the first year postpartum.

I have developed and conducted many workshops for mental health professionals on the topics of the use of Developmental and Family Systems theory in treatment and the use of the family in the stabilization of chronically and seriously mentally ill children and adults as well as presentations to medical staff and expectant parents regarding perinatal mood disorders.  I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology,and Postpartum Support International.  I am also a member of the Allied Staff of both Linden Oaks Hospital and Edward Hospital.
